This is not a good agency. They don’t vet the birth mothers and they ask for an egregious amount of money up front with little to nothing to show for it. Communication and support are little to none. If you are starting your adoption journey, there are many other organizations you should go to. Stay away.
We just finished our contract with Angel Adoption and our experience was truly devastating. Our only match in 2 years turned out to be a scammer. AA let us talk to this “mother” for several days before finally telling us that something was very very wrong. It turned out she wasn’t even pregnant. To make matters worse they offered no support or apologies and we were left feeling devastated. I know that it is in the contract that we signed, and we have no room to argue, but I do wish AA would consider a partial refund for families who are never matched. To receive absolutely nothing, not even a real potential match, for $20k is sickening.
Horrible company and horrible follow through. They are all about the money and don’t screen birth mothers appropriately. We were matched with a birth mother who gave birth and we had to do the leg work of figuring out what was going on. It took Angel Adoption three weeks after the birth to find out the mother changed her mind and had no intention of giving up the child for adoption. This whole time we were funding her and Angel adoption did nothing. We often would find a delay in communication and a lack of empathy and confusion. We caught them in several lies. Worst heartache and mistake was choosing Angel. Run.
We were matched 6 times in our two-year wait, and unfortunately all of them fell through for various reasons. In one case, the woman we were matched with wasn’t even pregnant. We asked Angel to refund some of the money we paid (over $18k) because we didn’t feel they provided us with the service that was promised. We did not receive personalized care, our profile was only marketed ONCE in two years. They told us they never issue refunds. We wish we had never paid that kind of money upfront and I caution others to not make the same mistake. Find an agency that will treat you with care and compassion, one where everyone working there knows your name and story and will keep supporting you until you adopt, even if it takes more than two years.
